“But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray, so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” (Revelation 2:20)

Last night in the revival services here in France God showed me one of the main strengths of the operation of the spirit of Jezebel that has hindered the army of God this generation. Let us concisely study this sublime deception amongst us today and therefore be able take evasive action now!

Background-

Jezebel’s strength in the times of Elijah the prophet was due to her incorporation of a forbidden agricultural based religion from the prosperous Phoenician coastline region called Baal worship. In Hebrew, Baal means husband or master and is originally the name of the ancient Canaanite storm god who rode upon the thunderstorm clouds and brought the rains for agricultural blessings. Her inclusion into Ahab’s house was based on a monetary trade treaty.

Historical perspective-

The reason Jezebel was so successful in causing the Northern 10 tribes of Israel to backslide into this adulterous worship was simply based on economics…the rains caused the crops to grow and thus prosperity would ensue for this agriculture based society. And because Baal worship did not incorporatethe stipulations of the Mosaic sacrificial laws that centered out of the Southern kingdom of Judah (which was their arch rivals), Baal worship was much more convenient and comfortable for a religious people who wanted to be like their neighboring nations. Thus, God sent the prophet Elijah to ruin their big party and social club entertainments.

Current Spiritual Application-

Baal worship when broken down to the simplest common denominator is a form of religion that promises prosperity but requires no Lordship and accountability. It is based on comfort, increase, and is very pleasing to the carnal character of man. Today we see this spiritual harlotry at work very effectively in the churches. People are praying to a “god” that promises to bring the rains so their crops can grow and they can prosper more. The fastest growing churches in the West today, known by their incorporation of seeker-sensitive services, hyper prosperity messages, and personal leadership development is nothing more than the same rebellion that the Northern 10 tribes of Israel displayed in stating their rejection of the absolute Lordship of YHWH in their lives. Instead people want a religion that will bless their family, bless their children, prosper their jobs, increase their vacation times, and still promise them eternal life but without the central stipulation theme of Lordship…carrying the cross of death to self as did the Messiah Jesus.

I have met many bond-servants and bond-maidens of the Lord over the last decade of conducting revival meetings in Western churches and gatherings who are rising up against this system of “churchianity”. Their hearts cry is to see His face and please Him in this late hour. Therefore, it is time for all of us to rally together against the false shepherds that are teaching this Baal/Jezebel adulterous message of promising prosperity without needing the Lordship of the Messiah in our lives. It is high time to no longer tolerate this adulterous message that is causing good believers to be given a diluted message that they call the good news because our “god” is good all the time, all the time our “god” is good, so they proclaim. It is time to prophecy a drought and take on these prophets of prosperity and entertainment with the true fire of God!

This deception is in the so called “Spirit-filled prophetic” movement right now! How do I know? Just look at the fruit of all the ministries that are falling into sexual sins, adultery, and sodomy (i.e. Rev. 2:20, immorality is the fruit of Jezebel’s prophetic flow)! Why are so many ministries getting divorced right now that have been in the river of God. I have been amazed how many revival ministries have gotten divorced as of late!

Could it be they are asking for the wrong type of rains from the wrong type of Master?
