The Catacomb Ethos

In our last EMM email I wrote that now is time to stretch yourself out and return to the ancient paths by recalibrating yourself to His still small voice. In the following video teaching we shot on location here in Israel, you will notice that I’m standing in an actual secret “catacomb” location that we modified for teaching believers how to do stealth warfare in sync with the gentle whisper of the Secret Place. This footage was shot in January of 2008, but put on the back burner and was not publically released. I was hearing at that time, by His still small voice of the early morning glory haze, that the time was not yet come to release this remedial anointing into His warrior community….
However, yesterday I was again in this secret catacomb location waiting under His glory haze, when He suddenly told me that now is the time to release this video teaching that I had actually forgotten about! Why is now the time in His wisdom and foresight? Because not only are there many believers needing to be recalibrated to still themselves and hear His mysterious gentle whisper once again…but also because many believers are in the habit of running in mass to whatever conference or Summer gatherings they are hearing about, and unfortunately this is becoming their primary source of spiritual nourishment and the modus operandi of getting another “touch”! I’m not against big gatherings of believers dear friends, but why are so many leaders complaining to me as of late concerning those who keep throwing aside their serious pursuit of intimacy with Him thru sound Biblical doctrine, to again run to another on-location event somewhere, and then come back with a whole new series of untested teachings? Could it be that our generation of believers is so conditioned to always going to a organized event to get hands laid on them again and again, instead of organizing ourselves into a ethos of catacomb communion first and foremost for the long haul? Sure our flesh loves the quick fix formula of getting a “new” anointing, but will that stay with you or evaporate from you if it hasn’t been received out of a Galatians 1 experience with the Master?
Now please don’t bombard my inbox with a bunch of well meaning emails that I’m attacking someone or something. Just relax and listen to this video teaching that was done almost 4 months ago and let Him return you back to that secret place that many seemingly don’t have the time for in their busy schedules. Can you just lock yourself away with Him and get your healing or breakthrough one-on-one with Him first…before you seek out another new meeting or event? Your life may just depend on cultivating this one-on-one discipline when things get even more dicey on planet earth in the days ahead according to the prophetic recon of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah in Matthew 24.
Here in Israel I live amongst a whole population of Jewish people whom the majority exhibit “Ayn Savlanoot” (Hebrew for “no patience”)! It is a crazy rat race on the inside of the Israeli ethos that even causes them to travel all over the globe looking for something! All busy and running about and don’t even have time to really stop and smell the flowers! I see this same exact mentality among many believers today in our post-911 culture. No patience to take the time to quiet-down the self assertiveness of the human soul (i.e. mind, will, and emotions) and learn to enter not just His Presence, but the Secret Place of His Presence (Jer. 6:16)! The ancient paths of the bridal fire that is the post-cleansing fire from the world system found uniquely in
Isaiah 4! (The Place beyond just the maintenance anointing of God among His people to encourage and equip them, but instead to now vaporize them into complete submission of a post Gethsemane existence.)
Why do I use the term “ethos” to describe why we need to make the communion of the Secret Place our main character trait? Check out what the Random House Unabridged Dictionary says about this term.
- the fundamental character or spirit of a culture; the underlying sentiment that informs the beliefs, customs, or practices of a group or society; dominant assumptions of a people or period.
- the character or disposition of a community, group, person, etc.
- the moral element in dramatic literature that determines a character’s action rather than his or her thought or emotion.
We need to cultivate a community of believers whose underlying sentiment is not primarily needing a public prayer/worship gathering to meet with Abba and get their faith serviced. Why? Because public fellowship is secondary in the Scriptures! The key is a secret catacomb ethos of practice that returns today’s believers back to our original DNA of being disciples of Yeshua based on the mysterious NT paradigm of the Desert Shepherd Warrior. The big gatherings are fun and you meet a lot of good folks, but the fundamental character disposition of today’s Western believers of finding and then parking quietly for extended times in the Secret Place of the Most High is quickly becoming a lost art in today’s fast moving world. Let us have the courage to stop this downward trend now before it is too late!!!!
