Boqer Or (Good Morning Light)!

Shalom Friends,

Wow! The voice mails from Abba in this dawn patrol are really coming like waves on the beach lately. Something is up! Here is the latest I’m hearing from the Commander and Chief….

Many of us have been wondering in this current trend where many in the NAC (North American Church) are now calling themselves “Apostles”. “Where are really the true Fathers?” There are a lot of teachers, managers, or those who have the natural disposition of a father, but where are these real apostolic Fathers to lead us in battle in this hour?”

So in this premature rush to find a father or mentor figure to be a covering for you…because the current trend of teaching is that you are incomplete or even lawless if you do not have a “Apostolic/pastor covering”, many are following a man-made system of co-dependence that is based on fear; a hierarchy/monarchy system; and unknowingly are requesting a King instead of Judge to lead them into battle (I Samuel 8)!

I was in conversation with a King/Pastor type of leader once and he said to me, “Scott, you need a spiritual father for a covering in your life…” I responded, “Yes, I agree in part, but the ones that I keep meeting…I have to end up fathering them because they have so much hidden sin in their lives!” This pastor (who is a good man) sincerely looked at me and steered the conversation in this vein, “well the anointing is more important than character (integrity) you have got to follow the office not the man.” I again responded and said, “I totally disagree! It is real simple…if you can’t keep your Levi’s jeans on, then you can’t be a Levite!” With that our relationship has been in pause ever since then.

This system of Papal Control from those in ministry is not new and most of us who love the freedom and liberty of the Holy Spirit have bumped up against this issue – to be (covered) or not to be (covered). Let’s simply identify this problem with these three points.

  1. There are only two general classifications of “covering” mentioned in the Scriptures.
  2. The first is the plethora of references mentioning the blood of the sacrificed lamb being our covering or the Hebrew word “atonement”.
  3. The second has to do with the implied covering a husband is for his wife. (See I Cor. 7; Eph. 5)

So therefore, let us not listen to manmade doctrines. The Scriptures make it real simple…Jesus blood is our only covering. PERIOD!

Now concerning listening, submitting, and obeying leaders (as is commanded in Heb. 13:17) that is a solid Biblical principle. But the variable again is the term here “leader”…and are they appointed, tested, and approved by God? Or are they appointed by man or even worse…are they self-appointed?

Let me give you an example of the true Apostolic “Fathers” (leaders) that Abba has been showing me in the Dawn Patrol this morning that He has graced His Church with in every generation.

  1. They have been in the Glory realm (2 Cor. 12:1-5).
  2. They have true signs, wonders, miracles…not just gifts of the Spirit available for every believer (2 Cor. 12:12).
  3. They have all perseverance.

What type of perseverance are we talking about this morning?

  1. I’m talking about an exalting of your weaknesses and not your strengths (2 Cor. 12).
  2. Taking pure pleasure in going outside the camp bearing His reproach (Heb. 13:11-13). And herein lies the separation between the true leaders and the professional leader of the MCS (Modern Congregational System). It is found in I Cor. the 4th chapter.
    (Read it now)

The true Apostolic Fathers are stewards of the mysteries of God and exhibit the very rare character trait of wanting to be a scapegoat and suffer a total death to self in the most humiliating way!

“For I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we without honor. To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless; and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. I exhort you therefore, to be imitators of me.”  (I Cor. 4:9-16 NASB)

The Linguistic Key to the Greek NT brings out some very deep word usage and imagery by the Apostle Paul to show what true fathers are made of.

  1. Paul used technical terms to describe himself to be brought out into the arena to be humiliated as a criminal sentenced to die.
  2. Paul uses this picture to illustrate the humility and indignity that God (not the devil) subjected them in to display their weaknesses in order to demonstrate His power and strength.
  3. They were not just simply hit but done in an insulting manner like a slave or a condemned man.
  4. They were abused verbally in a common practice of the way politicians used to insult and abuse their opponents.
  5. They were slandered to the point of becoming the scum of the earth. This term was used to illustrate the removal of filth the way a condemned criminal of the lowest class who were sacrificed as offerings for the cleansing of the city.
  6. This is the true Apostolic Fathering that Paul wanted them to imitate.

Now do you see why there are so few Fathers in the Body today and it is impossible to raise up people to this level of humbleness and spiritual maturity in the MCS (Modern Congregational System) and the current King/Pastor hierarchy system? Oh Abba help us wake up to this duping!!!!

  • The Spirit is moving us out of the camp.
  • The Spirit is moving outside the gate.
  • The Spirit is moving us out into the wilderness to die.
  • The Spirit is laying upon us His reproaches.

The Spirit is doing a new thing in this desert.
Rejoice and count it all joy this morning O’ Warriors who are called to this honorable mission! The same Hebrew word for the desert Jesus was tested in is the same word for the Holy of Holies in the Temple. Our desert experiences are our holy place!!!

  • Do not follow the brethren and leaders who do not submit to this process.
  • Do not follow those who pull back into self preservation and their own giftings and strengths.
  • Do not follow those who want to compete and have any leaven of revenge.
  • Do not follow those who are not reconciliatory no matter what abuse they may have suffered.

In His service for your faith,

Scott and Dalit
